Bihar Government's RTI helpline
A constant need for a centre was being felt where people could be assisted on phone to understand the provisions of the Act and also to seek advice on the problems encountered in the use of RTI Act. Kabir and Parivartan proposed a call centre to the government of Bihar to streamline the access to Public Information Officers to all citizens in the state - regardless of their level of literacy. The proposal was accepted and promptly executed by the government of Bihar and was named “Jankari Sewa”. Now people in Bihar can call at 155310 and 155311 to seek information about the RTI Act, or even to dictate an RTI application that is then transcribed free of charge by the Government. The application fee is automatically deducted from the caller's phone bill.
