Since Kabir is primarily a mass communication initiative, we have produced several short films - some that were part of carefully coordinated media campaigns. Here is a brief & incomplete list of our works.
Road to Chandrapura - An award winning film on a remarkable RTI success story about a backward village located in the remote Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh. Because of the villager's use of the RTI Act, the face of the village has changed for the better, and Chandrapura has become a prime example of the success of the RTI act in brining about a positive change. PDS - The RTI Experience - This is a documentary on the sad state of affairs with India's Public Distribution System, and the change that is being brought about now with the use of the RTI Act. Watch it on Youtube
Capital Water - This film is a visual documentation of the struggle waged by three RTI activists - Madhu Bhaduri, Arvind Kejriwal, and Suchi Pande against the water privatisation issue in Delhi. The film won the first position at the Dhan Film festival in September 2006.
Professors of RTI - Story of Aligarh Muslim University Professors using and spreading RTI. The movie illustrates how professors are using the RTI Act to promote good governance – even at the academic level. Watch it on Youtube
Drive Against Bribe - This was a training film produced specially for the "Drive Against Bribe" campaign. The film helps in understanding the usefulness of the RTI Act in empowering masses to fight corruption at lower levels of governance.
